Forest of Dean Wild Boar

Life’s Never A Boar In The Forest Of Dean!

Following an absence of more than 300 years, wild boars have made a definite comeback to the Forest of Dean and other parts of southern England. Nobody knows exactly how these creatures have come to start populating this rural part of Gloucestershire once again, but there are several rumours which range from a controlled and strategically planned release to the animals having been kept as farm livestock and escaped on their way to the abattoir. Whatever the reason, it would now appear that this new addition to the Forest’s fauna is here to stay and as the population has increased markedly over the years, efforts have had to be taken to control the numbers already. Fender Telecaster and Esquire

"For you history buffs who haven’t been digging way back into the Leo Fender story, the Telecaster was first introduced as the Broadcaster in the late fall of 1950. The first 300 to 500 made, according to Gruhn’s Guide to Vintage Guitars, were manufactured into early 1951. This amazing resource also notes that the model name was removed from the peghead in February 1951. If you can find a “No-caster” you will have something very collectible." Read full story:

Doctor Who - The Fourth Doctor

"When Tom Baker took up the mantle of portraying the still immensely popular and influential Doctor in December 1974, no one knew this Fourth Doctor would wind up in the role for longer than any other actor, and possibly become the iconic incarnation of the Doctor Who character, worldwide. Between then and his subsequent departure in 1981, Tom Baker transformed the role into one of the most influential rationalists in media through much of the 1970s."Doctor Who - The Fourth Doctor read full story:

Doctor Who - The Third Doctor

"As the 1970s dawned on BBC1, the producers of Doctor Who decided it was as good a time as any to change the look of the show to colour while the actor who portrayed the doctor changed, too. Again, this Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee, was nothing like his previous two selves, and would assume the role for no less than five seasons of serials." Doctor Who - The Second Doctor

The failing health of William Hartnell (the actor who portrayed the very First Doctor), led to one of the major keys to the longevity and continual interest caused by the Doctor Who series – regeneration. By 1966, the producers of the show had to come up with some way to keep on air. Instead of asking the audience to suspend their disbelief to accept another actor in the same role, they made the role one with a changeable face. Read full story -

Doctor Who - The First Doctor

Where it All Began – Meet the First Doctor! Based partly upon the success of the Quatermass Experiment in the early 1950s, the BBC began developing a science fiction series for children in the early 1960s, mainly due to government regulations requiring a minimum number of hours of programming for children. With the help of writer David Whitaker and young producer Verity Lambert, the series Doctor Who was launched on BBC 1 in November of 1963 as a part science fiction, part adventure, part horror and part educational programme. It went on to be one of the longest running shows in television history and one of the UK's most recognisable media exports. Read full story

Real Guitar heroes - DAVID GILMOUR - Guide To The World's Best Guitarists

"Long before Nine Inch Nails, before Yes, and even before Genesis, there was Pink Floyd. A product of the psychedelic rock of the 1960's, Floyd began with Syd Barrett and Roger Waters on guitar, but only after David Gilmour replaced Barrett on guitar did they break into worldwide commercial success. Gilmour's sparse but soaring guitar solos on albums like 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'The Wall' provided the perfect counterpoint to the nihilistic lyrics of Roger Waters." Read more

Gibson Les Paul Standard

This is, literally, the standard by which most Gibson electrics (and other electric guitars) are measured. Hence, the name. But why is it the standard? Yes, it's one of the most-used in rock-and-roll history. Jimmy Paige of Led Zeppelin, Slash from Aerosmith, Steve Howe of Yes, all used or still use this great electric guitar. Aside from being the guitar of choice for rock stars, the sound from this solid-body musical instrument is as close to one-of-a-kind as there is." Read full story
